These shoe hacks are for you if you possess at least one pair of shoes and wear them occasionally.
Usually, I am aware that not everyone will find my blog posts to be equally helpful or suitable to their situation. Since each person is unique, not everything I give will be able to satisfy every reader’s needs, wants or worries.
Today’s blog piece, however, is a rare exception to that maxim as it genuinely has value for all readers. The reason for that is that the topic of today’s post is shoes, and despite all of our differences, I think we can all agree that we wear shoes.
Earlier this year, I searched the internet and the OGT archives for as many shoe-related hacks, tips and techniques as possible. I finally whittled that list down to the top 13, which are the genuinely amazing shoe hacks I’ll be sharing with you today.
These tips cover a wide range of subjects, including cleaning, deodorizing, storing, organizing, and more much like shoes. Whatever the size of your shoe collection, I’m sure these shoe suggestions will be as helpful to you as they have been to me.

2. Deodorize Stinky Shoes
How to get rid of offensive odors is one of the most frequent queries I’ve received over the years regarding shoes. Nobody wants to spend their entire day wearing or being near other people’s stench-filled shoes.
However, there are a few easy techniques to get rid of shoe odor, and the majority of them focus on removing moisture, which is the most frequent source of the issue. Here are some easy ways to freshen up your shoes.
3. Stretch Out Too-Tight Shoes
I was rather happy when I discovered that, although being my size, the leopard print ankle boots I had purchased a few years prior were a touch too tight to wear comfortably. Reluctant to give up, I started right away to see if there was anything I could do to improve their wearability.
4. Smart Storage Solutions For Shoes
To accommodate more shoes on a shelf or rack, arrange your shoes in alternating directions.
You can add extra shoe storage to any door in your home by storing shoes in an over-the-door organizer. Shoe storage can be done on a tray placed beneath furniture, like the space under a couch or bed.
In the winter, you can always expect to find salt stains when crossing city streets and parking lots. Furthermore, you don’t want any of your lovely boots especially your leather ones to be ruined by salt stains.

When you go for a run, do you forget where you put your vehicle or house key? After sliding the key over a shoelace and tying your shoes as normal, you can secure it to your shoe. For added peace of mind, you can knot your laces twice.
8. Support Tall Boots With A Pool Noodle
My tallest riding boots started tipping over to one side in my closet, which drove me insane. I cut a pool noodle into shorter pieces and inserted one into each of my boots to remedy the problem.
During the summer, pool noodles are generally accessible and can even be found at the dollar store. It’s an inexpensive and simple technique to maintain the height of your tall boots.

Certain shoe bottoms have so little traction that they can even pose a risk! But all you need is a bit of sandpaper to find a simple solution to provide more traction to those slick sneakers.
To make your shoes’ bottoms look worn out, use sandpaper with a coarse grain. The resulting flaws and abrasions will immediately improve the soles’ ability to grip the ground and assist you stay upright.
12. Tape Your Toes In Pointed Heels
Wearing high heels, especially those with pointed toes, can be problematic since they can cause discomfort by pressing your toes together. However, I recently discovered an odd remedy that works.
To secure your second and middle toes together, place a lengthy piece of medical or cosmetic tape across them. This little move will increase the amount of room in the front of your shoes and improve the comfort level of your heels.
13. Cap Your High Heels
If you are coordinated enough to walk around in high heels (which, as someone who isn’t, I have the utmost respect and admiration for), you may have encountered common problems including traction problems and the loud clicking sound they can make when you walk.
But if you get a pair of these heel caps, you can address both problems at once. In addition to increasing grip, the caps reduce the sound made when the heel hits the ground. Heel caps are a quick fix for older, more worn heels or a way to preserve newly purchased heels in good condition.
